SVCC Tobacco Free Campus

The Sauk Valley Community College campus is 100% Smoke/Tobacco Free

In accordance with the Illinois Smoke-Free Campus Act of July 1, 2015, the State of Illinois Smoke-Free Campus Act prohibits smoking on each campus of a state-supported institution of higher education. Notifications are posted around campus to remind employees, students, and visitors of this state-mandated policy.

The policy bans use of ALL tobacco on the entire campus, including parking lots. Smoking anywhere on the Sauk campus is a violation of the Illinois Smoke-Free Campus Act and the SVCC Code of Conduct, and may result in punitive action.

The policy defines smoking as:
(1) lighting or burning any type of matter or substance that contains tobacco, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, pipes, water pipes, or other smoking devices

(2) lighting or burning of non-tobacco plants or marijuana; and

(3) using electronic cigarettes. The policy also bans all smokeless tobacco including chewing tobacco, dip, and snuff.
